13. Making new friends
Getting out and making new friends is a great way to eliminate stress at work. And if you are naturally social, this should come easily. The important thing here is to make sure your new friends are not people you work with. The last thing you need is work being brought up into the conversation when you are having a good time.
12. Spending time with old friends
As you move on from college to work, it’s easy to move on from old friends to new. And while there’s nothing wrong with making new friends, I think it’s important to find time to spend with old friends. There’s nothing like reminiscing about the good old days to forget all about work issues. My college gang and I make sure we atleast catch up twice a month if not more. It is truly rejuvenating!
11. Exercising
I have found that exercising is a great way to eliminate stress! And sure a lot of us have that age old excuse of “Oh! But I don’t have time” but you know if you really wanted to, you would find the time. When I , I do not think about work. I recommend you do the same thing. You will get so involved in your workout that you will forget all about the stressful day you had. Sounds good, doesn’t it? You will surely benefit with this one.
10. Take a vacation
Going on a vacation sounds like a great idea! And I know that a lot of you cannot afford to take a long break but even a weekend getaway can make a big difference. Make sure you go to some place that does not remind you of work and don’t carry your work along. The key is to get as far away from work as you possibly can. Considering I work from home, I know I’m leaving my latop behind when I go on a vacation!
9. Go out on a date
There’s nothing like putting on a sexy dress and some high heels and going out with a great guy to leave work woes behind. During the date, try not to dwell on the subject of work and remember to have fun! Even a bad date is good for some laughs with your girlfriends later on….
8. Go shopping
I have noticed that shopping eases my mind. How about you? If you are a girl, then I am sure you answered yes to this one. When you are shopping to get rid of work related stress, don’t go looking for work outfits or makeup for work. Look for something to wear outside…maybe on a date or a girls night out. How about a sexy number in red? Or those killer heels that you’ve always coveted?
7. Go to the beach
I live in Florida, so it’s easy for me to go to the beach and soak up some sun. Although, I do not like laying out in the sun, I do like taking a stroll on the beach. It really does help to eliminate stress. I love the sound of the ocean, the sand under my feet, the child walking beside me with my husband as the wind blows through my hair. It really is calming and magical!
6. Have sex
Hey, I just had to add this one in there! Having sex is always a great way to get your mind off of things. If you have a partner already, then this one is extremely easy.
5. Avoid difficult people
Point blank, you should avoid difficult people (as much as possible anyway). You know exactly who they are. People who exist to make others’ lives impossibly hard. If you take a moment to think about it, then you will be able to identify all of these people in your life. Bosses, customers, friends, family, coworkers, etc. The more you let them get to you, the more stressed out you are going to feel.
4. Eat healthy
This tip goes hand in hand with the exercise tip as it is a great way to prevent stress. I do not know about you guys and girls, but when I eat greasy food, I get in a bad mood. There’s something about healthy food that just puts your mind at ease. Try it!
3. Be Grateful
Be grateful for what you have. This may sound like an obvious tip, but to some, it’s not. Develop a positive attitude and eliminate those negative thoughts from your life. Quit whining. You will be amazed at the difference that will make. Always remember no matter how hard your life is and no matter how big the challenges, there’s always someone out there who is suffering a lot more than you are.
2. Live in the present
Do you live in the past? Do you constantly worry about how you could have changed certain things had you acted a certain way? In Samantha’s words, “Woulda Coulda Shoulda”. You can’t change the past. You can’t be certain of the future. All you have is now.
1. Cuddle with your four legged friend
I do not know about you, maybe some of you out there do not like animals, but I absolutely adore animals! I love every single one of them. If you have a four-legged friend, then try cuddling with him or her. Or better still, take them out on a walk! They will definitely help uplift your spirits!
